A cap jewel you will find on both sides of the balance wheel staff (pivot)
and this piece (cap jewel) is under a very small spring that closes down on the
jewel but lets it float a little so if G-d forbid you drop your watch the
balance staff that fits right underneath it will move up and down a fraction so
it will not snap as the cap jewel is held in by the small inca bloc spring as
mentioned just before. You have a small friction jewel just under the cap jewel
and this small friction jewel has a hole in the center and this is where the
balance staff goes into, to keep the balance straight and the cap jewel is flat
on the balance staff side and rounded on top so the Inca bloc spring keeps a it
snug in place but will let it move a fraction of a mm to give the staff protein
from falls. Without an Inca bloc system on both plates of the balance if the
watch is dropped there is no give and the balance will snap in half and you are
looking at a major repair job.

1675.00 USD
CERTIFIED VERIFIED PAYPAL MEMBERS ONLY PLEASE, NO EXCEPTIONS AT ALL
Please be warned about Gruen Curvex Watches,
Number 1,
ALL Gruen genuine Curvex watch movements have the same first 3 digits of the
case reference number as in this watch. The movement is a 370 Curvex caliber and
the first thee numbers are "370"
Number 2,
Many dealers are NOT watchmakers and never open the inside (which is retarded,
but they don't, I kid you not!). They see on the dial (redone to say the word
"Curvex") and take for granted it is a Curvex when it can be a flat Gruen
claibre335 movement or a 500 flat movement and not a genuine Curvex movement. So
please understand if the back is not opened and you get a flat movement it may
not be the sellers fault. Unless you buy this at auction then ALL parts of the
case and watch should be visible for you to see.
Number 3,
ALL Curvex watches were sold with signed Gruen cases if you see a Curvex
movement is a non signed case, get the gun and shoot his "Wazooola off" as he is
lying though his last tooth.
This why we open many any backs so you can see what your getting ,
serviced, genuine and well cared for timepieces.
