“The jewellery trade has been in my family for more than a century”,
says Robert Ogden, who runs Richard Ogden, the traditional English jewelers in
the Burlington Arcade off Piccadilly. “As a consequence, I have quite simply
lived, breathed and dreamed jewellery since childhood.”
Jewellery has been the lifeblood of the Ogden family for four generations. James
R. Ogden opened the first Ogden family jewellery shop in 1893. A master jeweler
and watch specialist, he soon established the Ogden tradition of expert customer
relations and his “Little Diamond Shop” fast grew popular with illustrious
clients (including Prince George, later Duke of Kent) who visited during the
Harrogate Season. In his spare time, James corresponded with two of the then
leading figures of international archaeology, Howard Carter and Sir Leonard
Woolley. He helped restore various ancient gold objects, which now contribute to
treasured collections in museums across Europe and America, and he became
Advising Goldsmith to the British Museum. In 1925, James’s eldest son William
opened a shop in King Street, St James’s, London. William had a taste for what
he called “important pieces” – pieces with a family or dynastic history. Many of
them came from royals or were sold to royals and included Queen Isabella of
Spain’s black pearls and the emerald necklace of the Empress Eugenie. According
to a 1930s portrait published by The Bystander, he was “more discreet than any
banker” – the so-called important pieces mostly changed hands in the oak-paneled
private rooms over his shop in King Street.
William had one son, Richard, who, after the war, continued the
family tradition of dealing in fine antique jewellery. He was a
pioneer in every sense and quickly gained international renown and a
client list which included such legends as Charlie Chaplin, Cary
Grant, Ringo Starr, Ingrid Bergman and, more recently, Madonna. When
he wasn’t traveling the world buying and selling antique jewellery,
Richard Ogden was creating exciting new designs, such as his famous
Twin set engagement ring and wedding ring, which earned him a De
Beers International Award in the 1970s. Richard passed away in
October 2005, aged 85 (see The Daily Telegraph’s obituary). His
eldest son Robert is a trained designer craftsman and an expert in
diamonds and unusual precious gems. Until recently, he frequently
broadcast on LBC radio, dating and identifying the listeners’
jewellery from their description. The current premises, which
Richard Ogden moved to in the early 1950s, have their own colorful
history. In Victorian times, part of the building was occupied by a
milliner whose “Guinea Bonnets” from Paris were the height of
fashion. Mary Cathcart Borer in The Years of Grandeur: The Story of
Mayfair (1975): “Madame Parsons sold her guinea bonnets at Numbers
26, 27 and 28. There was also a 'friendly bonnet shop' where the
accommodating milliner allowed the rooms above to be used as a
brothel and this rendezvous became as fashionable, in its way, as
the shops, so that men of affairs, who wished to avoid any breath of
scandal, took care to avoid the precincts of the arcade at certain
times of the day.” Rumor has it that when “Madame” Parsons (this
was the way milliners titled themselves) died, she turned out to be
a man. For more elegant reasons, the premises rose to fame again in
the 1960s, when Richard Ogden converted the lower ground floor into
the famous “Ring Room”. This showroom has recently been refurbished
to accommodate a series of fine jewellery exhibitions alongside its
more traditional role.

a serviced Rolex chronometer genuine GMT master with the revolving twenty four
hour arrow hand. The dial is gilt with a freckle at the 8 pm or just near the
"G" in GMT. The hands are original and the Cyclops crystal is acrylic. This is a
quick-set so the date changes fast, as in older models you have to go around and
around to change the date. With this 3075 movement you pull the crown out once
and turn the crown and the date changes. Pull the crown out a bit further and
the hands will change when the solid gold Rolex screw down crown is turned. The

overseas. The bracelet is signed Rolex and it is a model 875088 registered

it is included with the price of this Rolex. The all over condition is nice and
super clean. This Rolex case has the odd bump and line as all vintage pieces
have but truly clean to the naked eye. On a closing note I have this Rolex GMT
Master completely water proof to over 400 Meters or 1200 feet in my Omega
waterproof tester so shower away, dive to the bottom of the Ocean or do the

ROLEX "24 HOUR" ORIGINAL MILITARY DIAL AND SERVICED
STOCK NUMBER # ROLEX2020-----This is the piece that will top your Rolex
collection. I can assure you all my Rolex and other watches are serviced and can
and should be worn everyday. This dial went into production after it was
announced the second world war was over. Rolex went into production of this dial
for only short time. Many companies re-produced this dial but again rest assured
this is the "REAL DEAL" not remade not altered but in it's 100% original
condition. The case is all stainless steel and it is a screw in oyster case with
a Rolex Oyster screw in crown as well. This case is 36mm long and without the
Rolex screw in crown it is 32mm wide so it is a BOY'S Size. The back has lines
and wear on it but smooth to the touch. The dial reads "Victory" and again it
was a short run and probably only a 1000 or so were produced and how many
survived in this condition ?...not many as I have only seen a couple of dozen or
so in the last 15 years. The hands are original to this Rolex and the case
serial number is 350,406 and it dates this piece right smack at the end of World
War Two year 1945. The movement is a Rolex Geneve signed movement and it has 17
cleaned Rubies. If you take off this original dial you can see on the plate of
this Rolex the Words "Rolex Geneve" as the Canadian model Rolex watches never
etched the name on the back side of this piece. Wind up this manual wind piece
of Military history and enjoy, and remember, it is fully serviced and
warranted indeed!. On a closing note the band is a pig skin band never worn new
old stock.
2000.00 USD
VERIFIED PAYPAL ONLY ALL OTHER NON VERIFIED ORDERS WILL BE REVERSED

A NOTE.....
Did you know the Rolex caliber 59 movement with 17 jewels and 15 jewels are
also Tudor's?
The only difference being that if you take off the dial and look at the
main plate of the watch it will be signed "Rolex Geneve" or "Tudor Geneve" in a
small box. Some people take the Tudor plate and have the dial with the name
Rolex on it to make more money. We at DARLOR warrant our pieces to be genuine,
real, and no "monkey Business" at all. As well, the caliber 59 was produced for
the Canadian market during the world war 2 era (before and a bit after). Many
names on the dials are for the 59 caliber. So there you have it in short... So be
warned, and ask to be shown either a scan, or in person, where it says Rolex
or Tudor...any honest dealer will take the time out to show you!
